Zombie Self-Portrait Thingamabobs

I drew these, and a few more, last night in about an hour. Just for fun. It started as a personal logo exercise and ended up being a series of cartoony self portraits where I reminded myself that there’s an endless variety to the ways we can approach an assignment or character design. (There’s more than one way to skin a fat, bald, zombified illustrator with a penchant for the macabre.)

skatepark chat

For my first post of the year I wish to show an oil painting on linen I have been working on for the past while. It’s the third skatepark painting i have produced which was a great exercise for me in shadow. I am in love with the contrast of light and dark and how shadows melt into one another, roll and bend across surfaces. I have another few paintings on the go at the moment so I should be posting them soon.
